The silent presence of trees.

Mark Rooker finds his inspiration in the silent presence of trees. He draws tree trunks, using pencil and paper as his primary tools. For Rooker, these mediums represent a basic force against artificialism. It allows him to connect with the the real world. He wants to avoid conceptualism and instead focuses on experiencing the magic and raw beauty of nature. Whether in and around the city of The Hague or on his Spanish farm.
